Web design trends 2025–2026: from AI generation to spatial interfaces
Digital product design is the fastest-changing discipline in IT. What looked fresh in January becomes cliche by fall. In 2025, AI will become the catalyst for change and the defining vector merging physical and digital experiences.
We analyzed the reports Figma Config 2024, Dribbble Design Trends, Awwwards Annual and our own 150+ projects for 2023–2025 to highlight 7 trends that will define the visual language of the next 12–18 months.
1. Generative Design: AI as Co-Designer
The most revolutionary change. AI has ceased to be an “assistant” - it has become participant in the creative process.
What has changed:
- Figma AI (announced at Config 2024) - auto-generation of layouts, auto-filling with content, smart selection of colors and fonts according to description.
- Midjourney / DALL-E 3 / Stable Diffusion — generation of illustrations, icons, textures on demand in seconds.
- Galileo AI, Uizard — creation of complete UI layouts from text descriptions.
How to use:
- Mood boards — instead of hours of searching for references → 10 prompts in Midjourney.
- Prototyping — description of screens in text → ready-made wireframes.
- Illustrations — brand-specific images without stock photos.
Warning: AI speeds up the process, but does not replace the designer. According to Nielsen Norman Group, AI interfaces without manual modification show 30% lower usability indicators.
2. Bento Grid - a new grid of digital products
The style that Apple popularized at WWDC 2023, has become the dominant layout pattern.
Bento Grid is a grid with cards of different sizes, reminiscent of a Japanese lunch box (bento). Each cell contains an isolated unit of information: statistics, illustration, CTA button.
Why it works:
- Modularity - Easily adjustable to different resolutions.
- Scannability — the user quickly finds the desired block (confirmed by research eye-tracking from Baymard Institute).
- SEO-friendly — each section = a separate semantic block with H2/H3.
Where to use:
Landing pages, dashboards, “About the company” pages, service cards. We at NBM-IT use Bento Grid when designing corporate websites and SaaS products.
3. Spatial and 3D design
With the advent Apple Vision Pro, WebGPU API and mature libraries (Three.js, Spline, React Three Fiber), 3D elements have become technically accessible for regular websites.
Trends 2025:
- 3D product cards — interactive rotation, zoom, color switching (e-commerce).
- Depth-scrolling - parallax with 3D layers that create a sense of depth.
- 3D icons and illustrations — replace flat SVGs and add tactility.
- Immersive storytelling — 3D scenes for landing pages for B2B products.
Limitations:
3D is still heavier than flat design. Google recommends держать LCP < 2.5 сек — это значит WebGL-сцены нужно грузить lazy, декомпрессировать через Draco/glTF, и предоставлять fallback для слабых устройств.
4. Visual minimalism 2.0 + micro-interactions
Minimalism 2025 is not “blank white pages”, but meaningful reduction with emotional accents:
- Large typography — fonts 72–120px for H1, with appearance animation.
- Monochrome palettes with one accent color.
- Glass and light - glassmorphism, softlight effects, noise textures.
- Microinteractions — springy buttons (spring animations), sound reactions to hover, ripple effects.
According to UXDesign.cc, micro-interactions increase time on page by 22% and reduce the bounce rate by 15%.
Tools:
- CSS
@keyframes+cubic-bezierfor spring animations - Framer Motion / GSAP for complex sequences
- Lottie for lightweight animated illustrations
5. Voice and multimodal design
With the growth of LLM interfaces (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Yandex Alice), design has become multimodal:
- Chat-first interfaces — chat window as the main navigation method (example: Perplexity.ai, Notion AI).
- Voice UI - not only voice search, but also full control of the interface by voice.
- Multimodal input — text + voice + camera + gestures simultaneously (Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest).
How does this affect web design:
A new pattern appears: «Search → Ask». Instead of classic menu navigation, the user describes the task, and the interface adapts. This requires a completely different approach to information architecture.
6. Sustainable Design
A trend that will gain critical mass in 2025. According to The Green Web Foundation, Internet generates ~4% of global CO2 emissions — more than aviation.
Ecodesign principles:
- **Dark Mode has long ceased to be a feature “for geeks”. Ever since Apple popularized at WWDC 2023 and Google Android implemented it at the system level, users expect it everywhere.
In 2026, the trend has evolved: it's not just a black background and white text. Designers work with deep shades (dark navy, midnight green, charcoal), softening the contrast to reduce visual stress (eye-strain).
- Media optimization - WebP/AVIF instead of PNG, lazy-load, adaptive sizes.
- Minimum HTTP requests — inline critical CSS, defer minor scripts.
- Digital peace — conscious reduction of push notifications, banners and noise.
Why is this important for business:
ESG reporting (Environmental, Social, Governance) is becoming mandatory for public companies. Green web is part of an ESG strategy that influences investment attractiveness.
7. Personalization at the interface level
No longer a trend, but standard: The user expects the site to adapt to him.
- Adaptive landing pages — content changes according to UTM tags, geo, device, time of day.
- Progressive profiling — forms collect data gradually, without overloading the user.
- Dynamic pricing UI — visualization of prices and tariffs depends on the user profile.
According to McKinsey, companies with advanced personalization receive 40% more income from digital channels.
UX/UI audit of your interface
We will analyze your website for compliance with 2026 trends and find problems with conversion.
Bottom line: how to apply trends without fanaticism
Trends are not a checklist for thoughtless implementation. Each solution must answer two questions:
- Does it help the user solve their problem faster?
- Doesn't this slow down the site?
If the answer is “yes” and “no,” implement it. If it’s the other way around, it’s visual noise, not a trend.
